WHAT IS SAFE FOR YOUR BABY?
Old Fashioned Bumpers:
If you listen to everyone today about what is good and what is bad for your newborn baby. all you are going to accomplish is to confuse and scare yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the old fashioned bumpers that a little fixing properly wont take care of.
When your baby can move around, put the bumpers in. Usually, this occurs after about two months, though some babies start sooner. Bumpers protect Baby’s head from bumping against the crib bars and from possibly breaking a limb.
To position the bumpers correctly, don’t just place them on the top of the mattress, even if they’re pictured that way on the package. To prevent baby’s nose or limbs from getting stuck under it, take the bumper and slide it down into the crack between the mattress and crib. (See illustration above) An improperly installed bumper is a suffocation risk, so wiggle it in there till it fits securely.
By no means is this an easy task, it’s hard work stuffing the bumper but your baby will benefit from this and you will not have to worry about him harming himself. We advise moms to place a duvet type of sheet on top of the bedding so you or the caregiver does not have to constantly stuff the bumper.
Work a little harder by stuffing the bumpers instead of worrying yourself sick wondering if something is going to happen to your baby. If you do the right thing nothing is going to happen to your baby, if you do not do the right thing then you have reasons to worry.
